Job summary

A leading maritime engineering firm in Singapore is seeking an experienced individual to lead the commissioning of two-stroke engines at shipyards worldwide. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering and extensive hands-on experience with marine engines. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, system testing, and training vessel crews. Frequent international travel is required.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in engine systems, controls, and diagnostics.
  • Ability to work independently in a shipyard environment.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (up to 75% of the time).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation and commissioning of two-stroke engines.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues during commissioning.
  • Conduct engine testing and system checks.
  • Train vessel crew on engine operation and maintenance.
  • Provide commissioning reports to engineering teams.

Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • On-Site Commissioning: Lead the installation, testing, and commissioning of two-stroke engines at shipyards globally.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues during the commissioning phase, working closely with the shipyard team.
  • System Testing: Conduct pre-commissioning checks, sea trials, and final tests (e.g., engine control system, safety shutdowns, fuel settings).
  • Client Training & Handover: Train vessel crew on the operation and basic maintenance of the engine. Manage the final handover process.
  • Reporting: Provide detailed commissioning reports and feedback to our engineering and production teams.
Who We’re Looking For
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Marine Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Proven hands-on experience with large two-stroke marine engines.
  • A strong understanding of engine systems, controls, and diagnostics.
  • The ability to work independently under pressure in a shipyard environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a willingness to travel internationally (up to 75% of the time).
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with clients and colleagues.
