What You'll Do

As APAC Commercial Legal Counsel, you will support the group’s overall commercial legal strategy in APAC. Based in Tokyo or in Singapore, you will work closely with various business teams (Sales, Global Supply, Marketing, Public Relations, Product, Data Privacy), and with partners in the Global Services teams (Finance, Admin and Facilities) and with other members of the Commercial Legal team around the world. You will also work closely with Executives located throughout APAC (mainly Japan, Korea and Singapore).

As APAC Commercial Legal Counsel, you will join Criteo’s cross-functionally Global Legal Team, with a primary focus on customized deals and general commercial matters.

  • Partner with product and commercial teams across all parts of Criteo’s business, including product development, go-to-market product support.
  • Negotiating transactions with advertisers, brands, retailers, publishers, and technology and data partners.
  • Providing advice on advertising and privacy matters.
  • Providing high-value, business-focused legal advice in support of any other matters that come our way.
Who You Are
  • Qualified lawyer (Japan preferred but flexible) with minimum of 5 years of experience gained at a combination of top‑tier law firm and in‑house; with technical or internet industry experience (ad tech or advertising/marketing law experience would be a bonus) with a general knowledge of data privacy (knowledge of Korean privacy laws would be a plus).
  • Experience drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts.
  • Fluent proficiency in English and Japanese language (written and oral). Japanese language is required due to this role needing to communicate with Japanese clients. Korean language proficiency is a plus.
  • Desire to understand Criteo’s technologies and ability to analyze technical issues, for example use of data and data flows.
  • Independent, self‑motivated, problem‑solver, with a pro‑business approach who can operate as part of a team or alone.
  • Ability to engage with business partners of different experience and seniority levels; provide reasoned legal advice, empower partners through training initiatives and act as a trusted partner with commercial teams.
