Job Summary

Chevron is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Commercial Analyst to join our Trading Analytics team. This role is instrumental in supporting Chevron’s global trading operations by analysing market fundamentals, trade flows, competitor activity, and industry trends. The successful candidate will contribute to value creation by delivering actionable insights and supporting strategic trading decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and evaluate market fundamentals, pricing structures, global trade flows, and competitor production profiles and other industry information to generate insights that support trading strategies.
  • Lead and facilitate discussions on fundamentals with a broader team of traders and other analysts, providing timely key market data and relevant analysis to help the Trading team to formulate view of market directions and inform new trade ideas on physical and financial trading.
  • Collaborate with Commercial Analysts and Traders across Houston, Singapore, London and Middle East to support global arbitrage, supply/demand modelling and commercial opportunity identification.
  • Develop and apply models/tools to monitor and forecast key market drivers such as infrastructure, supply/demand, and industry production to support trading strategies.
  • Identify and recommend trading opportunities using deterministic analytical models and dynamic analytical models, as well as apply quantitative risk management methodologies to guide trading teams in informed decision-making.
  • Model deal economics/ analysis to identify feasible alternatives with trade-offs.
  • Pilot and leverage advanced digital tools—including machine learning and predictive analytics—to enhance trading performance and uncover new market opportunities.
  • Conduct performance lookbacks on trading outcomes and assess the accuracy of market calls and price forecasts.
  • Build and maintain a network of industry contacts to enhance market intelligence, generate insights and conduct economic analysis for future opportunities.
  • Champion process improvements by partnering with internal teams to optimize digital tools and pursue analytical process improvement opportunities to reduce manual effort.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in Oil & Gas Industry, trading, market data analytics, or related roles.
  • Solid understanding of commodity markets, including crude, natural gas, renewables, and/or refined products. Experience analysing commodity market fundamentals, with a preference for that to have been in NGL and Petrochemical, LNG, gas or power markets would be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to manipulate and analyse data sets and use economic models to test sensitivities and identify key value drivers all with minimal direction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint; experience with Python for data analysis and visualization is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present market insights clearly and concisely to influence and achieve optimum decisions.
