Job description

Cloud System Engineer

• Working Hours: Mon-Fri
• Location: Central
• Remuneration: Up to $9,000 + AWS

The Cloud System Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of hybrid cloud and on‑premise infrastructure. This role focuses on maintaining critical systems, driving automation, and supporting modernisation initiatives to ensure stable and efficient platform operations.

• Manage and optimise on‑premise and cloud infrastructure across compute, storage, virtualisation, and cloud platforms.
• Maintain platform performance through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and lifecycle management.
• Implement automation and configuration management to improve operational efficiency and standardisation.
• Execute monthly patching, security hardening, and compliance checks across hybrid environments.
• Administer access controls, security frameworks, and continuous compliance monitoring.
• Provide L1/L2 support for cloud‑related incidents, including root‑cause analysis and resolution.
• Support containerisation initiatives and administration of Docker/Kubernetes environments.
• Maintain backup, disaster recovery, and high‑availability systems for critical workloads.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks.
• Apply scripting and Infrastructure‑as‑Code practices (Terraform, Ansible, Python, PowerShell, Bash) to automate operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in infrastructure operations or platform engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure), Linux/Windows administration, virtualisation, networking fundamentals, and container technologies.
• Experience supporting high‑availability systems and large‑scale infrastructure environments.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
• Relevant industry certifications (cloud, virtualisation, infrastructure) are advantageous
