Job description

Morgan McKinley is hiring for an experienced engineer to take ownership of one or more enterprise application products, ensuring their stability, scalability, and security.

This role involves end-to-end operational management—covering patching, application support, architecture participation, and integration—within complex enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage and operate enterprise applications, including setup, configuration, and patching.
  • Example: Setting up a WebSphere server in high-availability (HA) mode in production and applying application patches post-deployment.
• Maintain and optimize enterprise container architectures (3-tier), supporting up to 100 environments per site.
• Participate in application architecture sessions with build teams to provide integration input (e.g., Web Services, MQ, SFTP).
• Design, implement, and administer enterprise-level Kubernetes platforms such as OpenShift, Tanzu, or Cloud Foundation.
• Oversee container provisioning, image lifecycle management, repositories, and deployment of container-centric services.
• Maintain enterprise architectures including web applications and microservices.
• Implement and manage DevSecOps tooling, automation processes, and operational best practices, including:
  • OS and application-level patching
  • Operational housekeeping and archival
  • Backup and recovery
• Apply government-level security standards, including hardening, scanning, and security posture management.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of relevant experience in designing and implementing enterprise container applications on Tanzu/Kubernetes orchestration platforms.
• Strong expertise with IBM MQ messaging, including administration, troubleshooting, and setup (queues, queue managers, channels).
• Hands-on experience maintaining large-scale enterprise web architectures and microservices.
• Knowledge of Agile processes and tools to support the development lifecycle.
• Experience with Elastic ELK stack: administration, query development, and Kibana dashboard creation.
• Understanding of web applications from frontend interaction to backend systems (SSO, web server, app server, database).
• Experience with operational delivery, including OS patching, application patches, performance monitoring, and automation.
