Position Summary
The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is the executive architect of Alpha X’s future. Leading the Innovation Division, you will unify our high-performance R&D hubs in Singapore and China to build a scalable, world-class technology platform.
We are at a pivot point: moving from being a "Semiconductor Specialist" to a "Global Smart Manufacturing Leader." Your mission is to industrialize our deep-tech capabilities—Generative AI, Autonomous Logistics, and Predictive Analytics—and adapt them for broad adoption across new high-growth sectors (Logistics, F&B, General Manufacturing) while maintaining our dominance in the semiconductor space.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Vision & Roadmap
- Unified Technical Vision: Consolidate the diverse technologies from our Singapore and China R&D teams into a single, cohesive product roadmap. Ensure that our "Hardware" and "Software" roadmaps are synchronized.
- Expansion Strategy: Lead the technical adaptation of our core products for non-semiconductor verticals. Identify technical gaps (e.g., connectivity standards, cost structures) when entering new markets like Logistics or General Manufacturing and build the roadmap to address them.
- Scalability & Cloud Architecture: Champion the transition from project-based customization to scalable, multi-tenant architectures.
2. R&D Operations & Execution
- Cross-Border Orchestration: serve as the bridge between our Singapore Innovation team and China R&D Center. Implement unified coding standards, agile methodologies, and collaborative tools to ensure the teams operate as one synchronized unit.
- Delivery Excellence: Accelerate the Software Development Life Cycle. Move our AI innovations from "proof-of-concept" to "production-ready" faster by implementing rigorous DevOps, QA automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Resource & Budget Management: optimizing the deployment of our R&D headcount. Balance resource allocation between "keeping the lights on" and "moonshot innovations".
3. Product Realization & Commercial Support
- R&D to Delivery Handover: Establish a structured framework for transferring new products from Innovation to the Delivery & Services (DSC) team. Ensure new products come with complete documentation, deployment toolkits, and training modules to minimize implementation friction.
- Sales Enablement: Act as the Executive Technical Sponsor for strategic accounts. Support the Sales/Go-To-Market team in high-stakes presentations, creating confidence in Alpha X’s security, roadmap, and future-readiness.
- Market Feedback Loop: Partner with Product Marketing to validate technical hypotheses. Ensure R&D is building features that solve urgent market problems, not just "cool technology."
4. Governance & Security
- Enterprise Security: Own the cybersecurity posture of Alpha X’s products. Ensure all software meets rigorous industrial standards, which is critical for retaining Tier-1 enterprise customers.
- IP Strategy: Protect Alpha X’s intellectual property by driving patent filings and ensuring proper governance of our proprietary algorithms and source code.
- Perform any ad-hoc duties assigned by the Company as and when required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience:
- Minimum 15+ years in technology leadership, with substantial experience as a CTO, VP of Engineering, or Head of R&D in a technology firm.
- Proven track record of managing cross-border R&D teams, effectively bridging cultural and operational differences.
- Experience managing senior technical leaders (Directors/Chiefs) and driving performance in a distributed organization.
- Technical Depth:
- Strong architectural understanding of Industrial AI, Machine Learning lifecycles (MLOps), and modern data architectures.
- Familiarity with Industrial Automation concepts to align with logistics and equipment product lines.
- Leadership:
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex R&D innovations into commercially viable, scalable products.
Preferred / Additional
- Language: Fluency in Mandarin is highly preferred to effectively lead the China R&D center and collaborate with regional stakeholders.
- High-Complexity Domain: Experience in mission-critical environments where downtime is expensive (e.g., Semiconductor, Automotive, Aerospace, or MedTech). We value leaders who can bring "Semiconductor-grade" reliability to general manufacturing industries.
- Govt Relations: Familiarity with Singapore government technology grants (e.g., Enterprise Singapore, IMDA) and R&D incentive frameworks.
- Security: Experience with enterprise-grade cybersecurity standards for industrial software.
