Job description

As Chief Scientist, you will lead our science, R&D, and materials innovation strategy to advance the next generation of carbon-negative, circular polymers and composites. This role sits at the intersection of polymer chemistry, nanotechnology, and lifecycle engineering — and will shape the scientific backbone of our mission to clean the planet through regenerative materials.

You will build and guide a multidisciplinary science team, oversee the development and optimization of our ECOFUSION formulations, and serve as the strategic interface between research, commercialization, and sustainability certification. This is a science-for-impact leadership role, ideal for an ambitious innovator eager to scale groundbreaking technologies with real-world environmental and industrial impact. Candidate is expected to join immediately.

Key Responsibilities
Scientific Leadership & Strategy
  • Define and evolve the scientific roadmap aligned with our regenerative materials mission.
  • Lead R&D initiatives across polymer science, carbon capture integration, and circular composite design.
  • Act as the company’s scientific spokesperson with stakeholders, brands, partners, and academic collaborators.
Innovation in Regenerative Materials
  • Oversee formulation, testing, and scale-up of next-gen recycled nanocomposites and carbon-sequestering materials.
  • Integrate green chemistry principles and LCA into all material development.
  • Ensure products meet industrial performance standards (e.g., tensile strength, durability, and safety) while outperforming conventional polymers in sustainability metrics.
Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Product, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to align R&D with production timelines and customer specs.
  • Translate complex scientific insights into actionable innovation strategies for pilot-to-scale manufacturing.
Scientific Integrity & Compliance
  • Ensure REACH, RoHS, FDA, and other regulatory standards are met across all material innovations.
  • Support IP development and protection, in collaboration with legal counsel and patent offices.
  • Lead technical due diligence and third-party lab certifications for materials.
Team Development
  • Recruit and mentor top-tier scientists across materials science, chemistry, and biopolymer fields.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, sustainability-driven design, and ethical research.
Qualifications
  • PhD in Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • 10–15+ years of experience in advanced materials R&D, ideally with bioplastics, nanocomposites, or recycled polymers.
  • Proven track record of commercialized innovation in sustainable materials or climate tech.
  • Deep knowledge of lifecycle analysis (LCA), green chemistry, and circular design principles.
  • Familiarity with carbon capture integration and chemical recycling technologies a strong plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • English fluency required; Bahasa Indonesia and other languages are a plus.
