Job summary

A childcare service provider in Singapore is seeking an experienced cook to prepare healthy meals for young children. The ideal candidate will have a valid Food Safety certification and a strong understanding of child nutrition. Responsibilities include daily meal preparation, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and collaborating with educators. This role offers a Monday to Friday schedule, with occasional Saturdays for special events.

Job Responsibilities
Daily Meal Preparation
  • Prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks for children aged 18 months to 6 years.
  • Ensure meals are healthy, balanced, and aligned with the weekly menu.
  • Accommodate dietary needs, allergies, and restrictions accurately.
Kitchen & Food Safety
  • Maintain NEA-compliant kitchen hygiene standards at all times.
  • Handle food storage, labelling, and preparation safely.
  • Perform daily cleaning, sanitising, and closing routines.
Operations & Inventory
  • Manage weekly grocery ordering and stock rotation (FIFO).
  • Track food usage, minimise wastage, and stay within budget.
Collaboration
  • Work closely with educators during meal service.
  • Communicate professionally with staff and management.
  • Support sustainability efforts such as reduced waste and composting practices.
Requirements
  • Experience as a cook/chef (preschool, childcare, kindergarten or institutional cooking experience preferred).
  • Strong understanding of child nutrition and portioning.
  • Valid Food Safety (WSQ) certification – Level 1 minimum.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Able to work independently and maintain a calm, positive attitude.
  • Basic English communication skills.
Working Hours

Monday to Friday: 7:30am – 4:30pm
Occasional Saturdays for special school events (rare & pre-scheduled).
