Job summary

Job description

RIMA’s Centre Manager is primarily responsible for the centre's day-to-day administration and operations, supporting the full spectrum of research initiatives and engagement programmes. The candidate would be responsible for the following duties:

  • Set the strategic direction of RIMA’s research work, including leading efforts to monitor trends and policy developments; undertake periodic environmental scans.
  • Oversee and manage the administrative, research and operations of the Centre, including annual/project budgets and workplans.
  • Maintain and monitor the Centre's overall budget including grant administration.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies and new initiatives that support the strategic direction of RIMA.
  • Organise conferences, workshops, seminars, training programs and other activities of the Centre.
  • Support RIMA’s publishing of article / opinion pieces on relevant issues affecting the Malay/ Muslim community.
  • Maintain integrity and close relationships with research stakeholders and partners, including leading efforts to grow its research networks and partners.
  • Supervise the research team to ensure quality research processes and outputs according to established protocols, including secure safe keeping of research data.
  • Work closely with AMP to ensure close working relationships and support its thought leadership initiatives as well as AMP Conventions follow-up initiatives.
  • Delegate the research team / provide support for analytical and research support for AMP’s various departments and projects.
Job Requirements
  • Recognised university degree in any discipline.
  • Proven experience in executing or managing social science research activities.
  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience (preferred).
  • Strong financial management skills, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal abilities.
  • Good writing and communication skills, with a strong command of English. Proficiency in Malay and an additional relevant language is an advantage, as this role involves handling queries and feedback from Malay-speaking counterparts regarding conferences, workshops, seminars, training programmes, and other activities.
  • Experience in editorial work and managing publications.
  • Strong networking capabilities and an understanding of the Malay/Muslim community will be considered an added advantage.
