Job summary

A leading construction firm in Singapore is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join their team. In this role, you will read and interpret building plans, fabricate and install wooden structures, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of proven experience, is proficient in carpentry techniques, and possesses good physical condition. Proficiency in reading and speaking both English and Chinese is essential for communication with Project Managers. The position requires commitment to a 6-day work week with 10-hour daily shifts.

• Strong understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation.
• Good physical condition and endurance, capable of lifting heavy materials.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints and building plans to prepare for construction.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Read & Interpret Plans: Study blueprints, sketches, and building plans to determine dimensions, materials required, and assembly instructions.
• Fabrication & Installation: Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, timber substitutes, and other materials to build structures such as cabinets, furniture, partitions, door frames, and shelving.
• Site Installation: Install fixtures and structures on-site, ensuring everything is level, plumb, and securely fastened.
• Maintenance & Repair: Inspect and repair existing wooden structures, furniture, and fittings as needed.
• Tool Operation: Proficiently operate hand tools (hammers, chisels, levels) and power tools (saws, drills, sanders) in a safe manner.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to workplace safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Collaboration: Work effectively with other construction professionals, designers, and site supervisors to meet project timelines.

Requirements

• Experience: Proven experience as a Carpenter or in a similar role at least 5 years.
• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of carpentry techniques, methods of installation, and construction. Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
• Physical Fitness: Good physical condition and endurance, capable of lifting heavy materials and working in various site conditions.
• Tools: Proficient in using electrical and manual carpentry tools.
• Proficient in reading and speaking English and Chinese. This vacancy is required to read the drawing in Mandarin and communicate with Chinese-speaking Project Managers.

Working Hours & Schedule

• Work Days: 6 Days per week
• Work Hours: 10 Hours per day
• Willingness to commit to the specified schedule is a must.
