About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Cafe Operations Manager to oversee the daily functions of our cafe and, most importantly, to lead the innovation, development, and execution of our menu. The ideal candidate is where culinary artistry meets operational efficiency. You will be responsible for crafting seasonally-inspired menus that delight customers, streamline kitchen workflows, and drive profitability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Menu Development & Innovation:
    • Research, design, and cost out new food and beverage menus (including seasonal specials, pastry programs, and drink features).
    • Ensure menus align with brand identity, customer demographics, and current food trends.
    • Develop standardized recipes (SOPS), portion controls, and plating guides.
    • Source and vet high-quality, sustainable ingredients and suppliers.
    • Conduct tastings and gather feedback from stakeholders.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Oversee all cafe operations, including inventory, purchasing, kitchen management, and FOH/BOH coordination.
    • Train and lead staff on new menu items, preparation techniques, and presentation standards.
    • Implement and manage systems for waste reduction, inventory control, and food safety (ServSafe certification required).
    • Analyze sales data and menu item performance to optimize profitability.
    • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in a cafe, specialty coffee shop, or boutique restaurant operations role with direct menu development responsibility.
  • A strong portfolio of created menus, with a focus on coffee pairing, breakfast/lunch items, pastries, and/or healthy alternatives.
  • Deep knowledge of food costing, margin management, and inventory systems.
  • Culinary training or formal education in food service management is a strong plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and training skills.
  • Passion for coffee, food trends, and creating exceptional customer experiences.
