Job description

The Business Management and Operations function within the Europe Asia Client Group (EACG) is multi-disciplinary, multi-geographical team that works on a wide variety of initiatives to support EACG functional teams and support business growth. The Business Associate Manager role is part of the Business Management department and is responsible for engaging, influencing, and supporting senior leaders in the organization (Heads of Client Group and EACG functional leaders (Sales, Product & Investment Services, Marketing and Business Management & Operations)) on business management initiatives. Responsibilities are detailed below but include business strategy and planning, business case creation, dealing with client-related issues, and working with multiple functions at Capital to ensure the effective execution of the business plan. The Business Associate Manager will be given a lot of responsibility and work on a constant flow of high priority activities.

Business planning
  • Leads annual client group business planning process with Heads of Client Group, including defining & implementing planning process
  • Builds and validates plans in collaboration with EACG functional leads, identifying key priorities / initiatives and areas for improvement
  • Socializes and refines the plans with the leadership team
  • Presents the plans to various committees
  • Monitors and facilitates effective execution of business plans
Business partnership
  • Partners with Head of Client Group to help run the business (business strategy and/or scaling the business). This includes:
    • Gather and document client group needs and business issues
    • Define and scope initiatives that support client group needs
    • Develop business cases and/or execution plans
    • Ensure effective execution and monitor results
  • Leads and supports analysis to help change the business (new strategic initiatives and/or business opportunities that will drive the business forward). This may involve:
    • Gathering and analyzing qualitative & quantitative data to identify trends, variances, and issues
    • Analyzing current business capabilities and processes to identify improvement opportunities
    • Working with teams external to EACG (Investment Operations, Legal & compliance, Global Finance) on initiatives that require cross-functional support
    • Recommending effective, efficient, repeatable processes
    • Provide ongoing recommendations to inform business strategy and identify gaps or improvement opportunities
  • Supports Head of Client Group in monitoring/managing the performance of the Client Group
    • Work with stakeholders including Global Finance and Business Data, Analytics, and Tools (BDAT) to develop and maintain effective metrics and reporting
    • Provide a good view of the operational landscape to enable business leaders to make more sound business decisions
  • Gets involved in day-to-day problem solving and business execution, which may include:
    • Ad hoc client queries or pitches that require extra attention
    • Initiatives to support team and associate development (e.g., Workshops)
    • Wider communication about Client Group progress (e.g., Town Halls)
Project management
  • Leads or project manages EACG-led initiatives to grow or change the business. This includes:
    • Designing analytical frameworks and/or project plans
    • Identifying and engaging stakeholders
    • Conducting gap and cost/benefit analysis
    • Developing and documenting execution plans
    • Determining metrics to accurately measure success of initiatives
    • Monitoring metrics for effective execution
