Our work helps clients understand the risks and opportunities involved in starting new business relationships, such as equity investment and merger and acquisitions. It helps shape the strategy for entering and exiting markets or managing disputes. Our clients include global investment banks, private equity firms, hedge funds, law firms and corporations. What sets us apart is our unique culture of teamwork and pursuit of excellence, which enables us to provide the very highest quality services to clients across the world, along with fulfilling and enjoyable careers for our staff.

The Role

We are seeking an Associate to work in our Singapore office. Candidates may be considered for a Senior Associate position depending on their profile and experience.

The role of the Associate is to conduct qualitative research for complex due diligence or other investigative assignments. Associates will use advanced open source research techniques, databases, and other resources to gather and analyse large volumes of information, assessing it for accuracy, reliability and relevance. Sources will include media reporting, court filings, company registers and many more. You will also engage with a network of external contacts and conduct source interviews to gather and verify intelligence for projects. Supported and supervised by project managers, you will produce high quality written analysis that meets the needs of our world-class clients.

Depending on levels of experience, you may train others, identify and recommend new information sources and research techniques, cultivate new sources and contacts, and gain exposure to business development and proposal-writing. The position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with an experienced management team at a fast-growing company.

The Requirements

You will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • 1-3 years of working experience in a relevant industry or an investigative capacity.
  • Strong English-language writing skills are essential.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex, nuanced information clearly and persuasively.
  • A curious and investigative mindset. The desire to get to the bottom of complex issues and explain them well to clients.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritise workload and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work as part of a multinational team of colleagues, including in other countries.
  • A university degree. Graduates in humanities, politics, economics, journalism etc. are welcomed.
  • Fluency in a Southeast Asian language such as Vietnamese or Thai will be an advantage.

A competitive salary and benefits will be offered. All information and materials submitted to Barbican will remain strictly confidential and be treated for recruitment purposes only. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
