Job description

The Assistant Manager, Volunteer Management is a proactive and empathetic leader passionate about empowering volunteers and driving community impact. He/she possess strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple programmes and stakeholders effectively. Comfortable working both strategically and operationally, he/she embraces innovation and data-driven decision-making. Experience in youth engagement and volunteer leadership development is valuable, along with a collaborative mindset to build lasting partnerships across diverse sectors.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of a purposeful vision for volunteer management that aligns with the organisation’s mission.
  • Assess and identify volunteer needs and gaps across programmes and services, and align volunteer programmes with strategic goals.
  • Oversee the end-to-end volunteer recruitment process, including responding to enquiries, screening and interviewing candidates, and planning targeted recruitment campaigns.
  • Conduct comprehensive volunteer orientation and training sessions to ensure volunteers understand their roles, organisational policies and safety protocols.
  • Lead volunteer appreciation/recognition initiatives, including appreciation events, personalised acknowledgments and regular communication through newsletters and social media.
  • Monitor and track volunteer engagement metrics such as hours contributed, and prepare detailed reports on volunteer activities, impact and key performance indicators.
  • Lead the integration of technology and innovative practices to enhance volunteer management processes, communication and training.
  • Lead and supervise the youth outreach and leadership portfolio, including managing enquiries, developing multi-modal dementia educational resources, supporting youth outreach activities and overseeing a youth leadership programme focused on dementia.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members to ensure effective execution of volunteer management and youth engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders—including community groups, corporate partners, schools, and government agencies—to develop and sustain meaningful volunteer collaborations.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Mass Communications or Social Science.
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in volunteer management, community engagement, youth development or related fields.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising or guiding teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise task and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in using digital tools and platforms for volunteer management and communications.
  • Analytical mindset with experience in monitoring, reporting and using data to inform decision-making.
  • High emotional intelligence, conflict resolution skills and ability to foster positive volunteer experiences.
  • Self-driven, adaptable and able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Passion for volunteerism and community development.
