[What the role is]

Hawker centres are our “community dining rooms”, where hawker‑entrepreneurs serve affordable good food, bringing people together in our everyday neighbourhoods. By joining the Hawker Policy and Planning Department, you will have the opportunity to contribute ideas, policies and plans to ensure that our hawker centres remain relevant and sustainable, to meet the needs of Singaporeans, today and tomorrow.

You will be part of the team that works in partnership with various departments to develop and implement placemaking programmes and engagement efforts, ensuring efficient implementation of initiatives related to hawker culture.

[What you will be working on]

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and implement outreach and engagement strategies with 3P (public, private and people) partners to support the sustainability of hawker trade, enhance vibrancy in hawker centre and promote hawker culture. This involves driving engagements and coordination with partners to support placemaking projects, empowering local community stakeholders to lead in caring for hawker centres, creating awareness of hawker policies, and promoting hawker culture through programmes.
  • Collaborate across teams to develop, plan and implement projects and initiatives that promote hawker centres as vibrant social spaces, fostering community bonds and enlivening them as community dining rooms.
  • Perform grant administration for the Vibrant Hawker Culture Programme. This includes processing applications to ensure compliance with funding guidelines, monitoring expenditures, preparing grant reports and working with stakeholders to ensure seamless grant administration.
  • Support management in collating, analysing and reporting data related to programmes and initiatives relevant to placemaking and promoting hawker culture.
  • Plan and manage the financial expenditures related to our programmes and initiatives.
  • Address feedback and enquiries related to our programmes and initiatives.
  • Any other duties as assigned from time to time.
