Job summary

A leading construction firm in Singapore seeks an experienced accountant to oversee accounting operations for ongoing and completed projects. Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Management, with at least 2 years of experience, particularly in construction contracts and revenue recognition. Strong ERP system knowledge, excellent communication and leadership skills are mandatory. A good command of Japanese is an advantage due to interactions with expatriates and internal controls aligning with Japanese regulations.

Qualifications

  • Professional knowledge in full-set accounting operations, especially in construction.

Job description
Responsibilities

·Supervise and Review accounting operations on on-going and completed projects as assigned (e.g. Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger, including progressive billing, Subcon settlement, supplier and employee claim) using ERP system.

·Prepare cash flow report and cost forecast and analyze variance as assigned

· Prepare regular and irregular report for balance sheet and profit & loss accounts as assigned

·Manage project cost for assigned project site with project manager/cost controller and stakeholders (QS team etc.)

·Assist financial reporting and management reporting to Japan HQ, namely overseeing submission of financial data of the Singapore Branch and the Civil Engineering Management Department prepared in line with the Japan HQ requirement

· Assist audits (internal/external), tax and compliance matters as assigned

·Supervise account and admin team (4-7staff) to ensure internal control and compliance with the Japan HQ Procedure(including internal controls in accordance with J-SOX and company act)

·Support tender and bank guarantee management

·Support accounting operations of projects run by Joint Ventures of Nishimatsu Construction and other construction firms, which require accounting procedure specific to construction Joint Ventures.

·Provide administrative support for site matters such as events, workers dormitory, insurance matters, ICT matters

·Manage project admin staff

· Assist HR matter to handle project staff issues

·Perform all other ad-hoc and project duties when assigned

Requirement
  • Possess Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Business Management or its equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experiences in Account section of the Japanese ultimate parent company listed in Tokyo Stock market or equivalent
  • Professional knowledge and more than 2 years of experience in full-set accounting operations are required, especially accounting for construction contracts and revenue recognition of construction industry desirable
  • Minimum 2 years of experience of budget, forecast, and management of construction project cost and cash flow
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience of internal controls and internal audit, preferably in line with J-SOX (Japanese version of the U.S. Sarbanes-Oxley Act) or equivalent
  • Practical knowledge of Annual Securities Report and related financial statement in compliance with Japan's accounting rules/regulations and listing rules in Tokyo Stock market is a plus.
  • Past experience to manage Joint Venture (Full Integrated) accounting is a plus
  • Practical skill and experience to operate ERP system (SAP/Oracle or equivalent)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills are mandatory
  • Past experience of handling HR/Admin related matters (employee accommodation and welfares) is a plus
  • Hands-on knowledge of Japanese laws, regulations and guidelines on construction will be an added advantage
  • Experience in handling expatriates will be advantage
  • Proficiency in Japanese in order to handle accommodation, welfare and benefit matters for Japanese expatriates is an added advantage
