Job Description

The Application Engineering (AE) Manager is responsible for leading and developing the AE team to deliver high-quality technical support and application solutions. This role bridges customers, sales, and headquarters by ensuring effective technical engagement, talent development, and alignment with HIOKI’s product and business strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage, and develop the AE team, including training, and performance management
  • Define AE strategies and priorities aligned with sales and business objectives
  • Provide technical leadership and escalation support for complex customer applications
  • Partner closely with sales, marketing, and HQ product teams to support business growth
  • Oversee pre-sales and post-sales technical activities, including demos, evaluations, and troubleshooting
  • Ensure consistent technical messaging, documentation, and application standards
  • Plan and support customer visits, seminars, exhibitions, and technical workshops
  • Collect market, customer, and competitor insights and communicate feedback to HQ
  • Manage AE resource allocation, travel planning, and budgeting as required
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and safety requirements
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field
  • 7 years of experience in application engineering, technical support, or test & measurement roles
  • Strong technical expertise in electrical measurement, power electronics, or instrumentation
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop technical teams
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and global HQ teams
  • Proficiency in English; Japanese language skills are a strong advantage
