Job description

An Air Traffic Controller (ATC) is responsible for the safe, orderly, and expeditious movement of aircraft within assigned airspace and on airport movement areas. The role requires continuous situational awareness, precise communication, and strict adherence to aviation regulations to ensure flight safety at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Air Traffic Control Operations

    • Provide clearances, instructions, and advisories to aircraft to maintain safe separation in the air and on the ground.
    • Control aircraft movements during takeoff, landing, taxiing, and en‑route phases in accordance with established procedures.
  • Safety & Separation Assurance

    • Maintain required separation standards between aircraft to prevent collisions and airspace conflicts.
    • Continuously monitor radar displays, flight progress strips, and surveillance systems to detect and resolve potential hazards.
  • Communication & Coordination

    • Communicate effectively with pilots using standard aviation phraseology.
    • Coordinate with adjacent control units, airport operations, meteorological services, and emergency response teams.
  • Weather & Airspace Management

    • Assess weather conditions and provide timely updates and advisories affecting flight operations.
    • Manage airspace restrictions, traffic flow adjustments, and rerouting as required.
  • Emergency & Abnormal Situations

    • Respond promptly and decisively to in‑flight emergencies, equipment malfunctions, medical situations, and security incidents.
    • Activate emergency procedures and coordinate with rescue, fire, and medical services.
