About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on AI Engineer with strong experience in AWS, prompt engineering, and end-to-end system design to help us scale ELLO’s intelligence layer.

You’ll be responsible for building and optimizing the AI backbone that powers ELLO’s contextual understanding - integrating multiple models and ensuring accuracy, speed, and reliability in real-world environments.

This role sits at the intersection of AI engineering, backend development, and cloud architecture, and will shape how our platform learns, adapts, and delivers peace of mind to caregivers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement AI workflows end-to-end, from prompt design and inference orchestration to API integration and output evaluation.
• Optimize pre-built models via prompt engineering, model selection, and API orchestration (vision, speech, or multimodal) for ELLO’s specific use cases: fall detection, smoke detection, activity analysis, and contextual alerts.
• Build scalable AI pipelines on AWS (Lambda, Step Functions, Bedrock, Rekognition, S3, DynamoDB etc.) that support real-time analysis and continuous improvement.
• Develop evaluation frameworks - e.g., accuracy metrics, confidence scores for facial matches, or fall-detection validation - to ensure robust and explainable AI.
• Collaborate with product and hardware teams to integrate AI modules with the ELLO Care app, edge devices, and backend infrastructure.
• Stay ahead of emerging AI tools and frameworks, proposing ways to improve speed, cost-efficiency, and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, AI, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in applied AI / ML engineering
• Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow / PyTorch, and AWS cloud services
• Experience with API orchestration and prompt / model integration (OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, etc.)
• Familiar with edge-cloud hybrid workflows and MLOps best practices
• Strong backend experience (FastAPI, Node.js, or similar)
• Bonus: experience with computer vision, facial recognition, or event detection systems
