Job Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the accounting operations of the company in Singapore, ensuring compliance with both U.S. GAAP and Singapore accounting standards. This role includes overseeing the preparation of financial reports, maintaining an adequate system of accounting records, and implementing a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk. The Accounting Manager will enhance the accuracy of reported financial results and ensure compliance with local and international financial reporting standards, liaise with the HQ team in the USA on various financial and control reporting and management, and proactively lead projects to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP and Singapore accounting standard.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Oversee the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with Singapore Accounting standard, U.S. GAAP, tax regulations, and other statutory requirements.
- Liaise with auditors and tax authorities for audits and tax filings.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls over financial reporting.
- Review and ensure sufficient insurance coverage for Singapore.
- Manage all regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance.
- Prepare and file annual reports and tax returns in accordance with both Singapore and U.S. laws.
- Hands‑on experience in MES and ASK methodology.
- Accounting Operations
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure adequate insurance coverage and coordinate reporting from other departments.
- Oversee accounts payable, inventory, and receivable processes.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
- Monitor bank balances and cash flow, ensuring timely disbursements.
- Prepare cash‑flow reporting.
- Manage the petty cash float.
- Maintain records of fixed assets, ensuring proper capitalization and depreciation.
- Apply for FTA with Singapore Customs.
- Track and document costing; apply BOM knowledge and drive operational efficiencies with KPIs.
- Familiar with transfer pricing topics and engage relevant departments to ensure compliance.
- Support decision making for choice of incoterm.
- IT Management
- Manage the mobile phone policy and align with HQ, adapting to local needs for SG and off‑site locations.
- Manage the renewal process and source best‑value mobile plans.
- Financial Analysis and Strategy
- Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to management for strategic decision‑making.
- Monitor financial performance against budget and forecasts.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities and implement cost‑control measures.
- Monitor and manage financial risks.
- Lead Shared Services projects.
- Assist in the development of financial strategies and long‑term plans.
- Provide financial support for business initiatives and projects.
- Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
- Provide training and development opportunities to the team.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
- Other Duties
- Ad‑hoc projects and assignments as tasked by management.
Requirements
- University degree or above.
- Proficiency in English and one regional language (both spoken and written).
- Good at MS Office and ERP system.
- At least 8 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of MES/ASK, FTA process and requirement.
- In‑depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP, Singapore Accounting Standard, tax regulations, banking and financial reporting requirements.Experience in SSC management.
- Experience in Incoterms.
