Job summary
AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Life Safety Engineer to join our Transportation Project Delivery team in Riyadh. You will lead life safety design, collaborate with design, engineering and construction teams, and coordinate with authorities on fire safety solutions for a major transportation project.
The role emphasizes ensuring compliance with codes and standards, conducting reviews, and guiding field inspections during construction, with a focus on passive/active protection, fire safety,
Qualifications
- Degree in engineering or engineering technology with relevant discipline (electrical, mechanical, fire engineering).
- Minimum 12 years of experience in design, supervision, construction and commissioning of transport facilities.
- Expertise in fire protection in buildings (passive and active systems).
- Experience with smoke management and CFD model evaluation.
- Knowledge of safety of occupants, compartmentation, evacuation and pedestrian flow models.
- Familiarity with codes, standards, regulations and approvals from authorities; knowledge of Riyadh/JSA authorities is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance on life safety systems design and construction, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
- Develop governance and process documentation for life safety practices.
- Represent Fire Life Safety coordination with authorities and the PMCM team.
- Ensure design and construction meet technical requirements through reviews and testing.
- Provide engineering expertise during construction through field inspections.
- Assess and feedback on alternative compliance proposals from contractors.
- Coordinate interfaces between disciplines to ensure project integration and client alignment.
- Review contractor deliverables for compliance with requirements and standards.
- Monitor designer inputs during construction (RFIs, drawings, approvals, punch lists).
- Provide progress reports and briefings on fire and life safety progress and opportunities.
- Coach and mentor client staff; promote safety culture and proactive safety behavior.
