The MEP Engineer will be responsible for supervising and monitoring all Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs, project specifications, contractual requirements and applicable standards. The role will support the successful delivery of complex building developments by ensuring that MEP systems are installed, tested, commissioned and handed over in accordance with quality, safety and performance requirements.
Your role
Construction Supervision
- Monitor installation of HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing networks, firefighting systems, ELV systems and building services
- Verify that construction activities are executed according to approved methodologies, drawings, and engineering standards
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure workmanship quality and compliance with project specifications
- Witness testing activities and ensure MEP installations are completed in accordance with approved inspection and test plans
- Identify construction deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions with contractors and project teams
Technical Review and Coordination
- Review MEP shop drawings, coordination drawings, material submissions and technical proposals for compliance with design intent
- Coordinate with architectural, structural, civil and specialist engineering teams to resolve design and construction interface issues
- Evaluate requests for information, technical queries and proposed design modifications affecting MEP systems
- Assist in reviewing value engineering proposals and alternative solutions related to building services systems
- Provide technical recommendations and engineering support to address site-related challenges
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure all MEP works comply with project specifications, approved quality plans and applicable industry standards
- Review inspection reports, testing records, commissioning reports and quality documentation for MEP systems
- Monitor implementation of inspection and test plans and ensure necessary approvals are obtained
- Identify non-conforming works and verify implementation of corrective and preventive actions
- Participate in quality audits and compliance reviews related to MEP construction activities
Testing and Commissioning
- Monitor pre-commissioning, testing, commissioning and performance verification activities for all MEP systems
- Ensure testing procedures are carried out in accordance with approved commissioning plans and project requirements
- Review testing and commissioning documentation and verify system readiness for operation
- Coordinate integrated system testing and support resolution of commissioning-related issues
- Assist in preparing snagging, de-snagging and final handover activities for MEP systems
Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with Client representatives, contractors, consultants, authorities and project teams on MEP-related matters
- Participate in progress meetings, technical coordination meetings and site inspections
- Support effective communication and coordination among project disciplines to ensure smooth project execution
- Coordinate with QA QC, HSE, testing and commissioning teams to achieve project objectives
- Assist project management in resolving technical issues impacting cost, schedule, quality or functionality
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports on MEP progress, inspections, testing and compliance activities
- Maintain records of site inspections, approvals, testing results, commissioning activities and technical reviews
- Review contractor progress reports and verify the accuracy of reported MEP installation status
- Document non-conformance reports, site observations, technical comments and corrective actions
- Ensure all MEP documentation is updated, maintained and available for audits, reviews and project closeout
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineering registration or equivalent accreditation is desirable.
- Membership in a recognized engineering institution is preferred.
- Additional certifications related to MEP systems, commissioning, or construction supervision are advantageous.
- Training in testing, commissioning, and building services coordination is highly desirable.
- Minimum 8-12 years of professional experience in MEP engineering and construction supervision.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in site supervision consultancy projects involving large building developments.
- Proven experience in convention centers, hotels, resorts, mixed-use developments, and high-rise building projects.
- Strong experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, firefighting, ELV, and building management systems.
- Previous GCC experience, particularly within Saudi Arabia, is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of MEP engineering principles, building services systems, and construction methodologies.
- Thorough understanding of international codes, standards, and best practices applicable to MEP installations.
- Experience in reviewing shop drawings, technical submissions, testing procedures, and commissioning documentation.
- Knowledge of integrated building systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, fire protection, plumbing, and ELV systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and engineering software relevant to MEP design and construction supervision.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and coordination abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
