Role Context

Airport electrical infrastructure must remain dependable under demanding operational conditions where power interruptions can affect safety, aircraft movements, passenger operations, security, communications, and essential facilities. The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide the technical oversight needed to translate approved designs into safe, coordinated, and operationally resilient installations. Working across design and construction interfaces, the role will connect electrical engineering with civil, structural, mechanical, ICT, security, aviation, BMS, SCADA, utilities, and airport operations. Technical decisions will directly influence system availability, lifecycle performance, energy efficiency, and successful operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead technical review and coordination of electrical engineering systems for airport, airfield, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, design reports, and engineering submissions.
  • Verify compliance with project specifications, aviation requirements, authority regulations, and applicable international standards.
  • Assess electrical solutions for safety, capacity, resilience, maintainability, and operational reliability.
  • Review medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution networks.
  • Evaluate substations, transformers, switchgear, distribution boards, and associated electrical equipment.
  • Review standby generators and emergency power arrangements supporting critical airport functions.
  • Assess uninterruptible power supply systems and critical-load architectures.
  • Verify power-system redundancy and resilience requirements for operationally essential facilities.
  • Review electrical load assessments and demand calculations.
  • Check cable sizing and voltage-drop calculations.
  • Review short-circuit and load-flow studies.
  • Assess protection coordination studies and associated control philosophies.
  • Review earthing, bonding, and lightning protection requirements.
  • Support value engineering focused on performance, lifecycle cost, energy consumption, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Provide technical oversight for airfield ground lighting infrastructure.
  • Review airfield lighting circuits, constant-current regulators, cabling, controls, and monitoring systems.
  • Coordinate electrical requirements associated with runways, taxiways, aprons, aircraft stands, and operational airfield areas.
  • Review interfaces between airfield electrical networks and navigation-aid systems.
  • Verify that airfield systems satisfy relevant aviation operational requirements.
  • Support integrated testing and commissioning of airfield electrical installations.
  • Coordinate electrical systems with airport operational technology and specialist systems.
  • Review interfaces with BMS and SCADA platforms.
  • Coordinate power requirements for ICT and security infrastructure.
  • Work with mechanical teams on electrical supplies and control interfaces for building services equipment.
  • Coordinate with civil and structural teams on equipment locations, trenches, duct banks, foundations, and service routes.

  • Support resolution of spatial and technical conflicts identified through digital engineering models.

  • Verify lighting arrangements against operational and safety requirements.

  • Respond to RFIs, technical queries, and proposed design modifications.
  • Evaluate contractor alternatives and recommend technically appropriate solutions.
  • Conduct site inspections during electrical installation activities.
  • Verify completed work against approved drawings, specifications, and installation standards.
  • Identify installation deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Monitor electrical construction progress and emerging technical constraints.
  • Coordinate with Quality teams on inspection and test requirements.
  • Review Inspection and Test Plans and supporting quality documentation.

Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor 's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of electrical engineering experience covering design, technical review, construction supervision, testing, commissioning, and project delivery.
  • Experience on major airport, airfield, transportation, or comparable large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong technical understanding of medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution.
  • Experience with substations, transformers, switchgear, distribution boards, generators, and UPS systems.
  • Detailed understanding of critical and resilient power architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of protection, control, earthing, bonding, and lightning protection.
  • Experience reviewing load calculations, cable sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit analysis, load-flow studies, and protection coordination.
  • Practical knowledge of airfield ground lighting and associated electrical networks.
  • Familiarity with constant-current regulators and airfield lighting control systems.
  • Understanding of critical airport operational requirements and electrical-system reliability.
  • Experience coordinating electrical engineering with civil, mechanical, ICT, security, aviation, and other disciplines.
  • Ability to review contractor drawings, material submissions, method statements, and testing procedures.
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering software and power-system analysis platforms.
  • Working knowledge of BIM-based multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Strong technical judgment and problem-solving ability.
