Q-Storage in Funchal, Portugal seeks a highly skilled Sous Chef to join a prestigious fine dining restaurant. You will work with the Head Chef to lead the kitchen team, plan menus, and ensure exceptional dining experiences.

You will train junior staff, monitor inventory, maintain high food-safety standards, and collaborate with front-of-house for seamless service. Portuguese language preferred and culinary degree preferred.

Sous Chef - Fine Dining Restaurant (Funchal, Portugal)

We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Sous Chef to join our team at a prestigious fine dining restaurant in Funchal, Portugal. As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to lead our kitchen team in delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in menu planning and development, ensuring all dishes are executed to the highest standard
• Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, and plating
• Train and mentor junior chefs and kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and food safety standards
• Monitor food inventory levels and order supplies as needed to maintain stock levels
• Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and report any issues to management
• Collaborate with other departments, such as front of house staff, to ensure a seamless dining experience for guests
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized kitchen at all times

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a fine dining establishment
• Culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred
• A passion for food and creativity in developing new dishes
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively
• Knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Fluent in Portuguese (both written and verbal) is preferred
