Skills
Lone Star Farms is seeking a motivated Head Shepherd/2IC to join the team at Barewood Station, a 5,500ha (effective) breeding operation located next to the Taieri Gorge, in-land Dunedin. This high-performing farm winters around 25,000 stock units and includes 200 Angus cows, 15,500 Headwater ewes and 4500 Hoggets. Plus a trading operation of 500 R1-R2 cattle.
We are seeking a person who has:
- 3+ years working as an Experienced Shepherd in New Zealand
- A team of competent working dogs
- Experience with feed planning, grazing systems and rotations
- Ability to communicate with and manage staff is a must
- Competent with computer use including EID tech
- A willingness to embrace technology
- Strong record of high stock performance and animal welfare
- High-level stockmanship and attention to detail
