About The Role

Step into a role where you will work alongside Registered Nurses to deliver exceptional, compassionate care in our Kaupapa Ward. As a Health Care Assistant, you will support nursing teams by assisting with daily patient care, contributing to comprehensive and quality care delivery, and helping to create a nurturing environment for patients. You will have the opportunity to develop new skills in a supportive kaupapa care setting, with access to ongoing educational opportunities.

We seek courageous, passionate, and driven individuals who are inspired by Te Tiriti o Waitangi and eager to be part of a paradigm shift toward Toi Ora within Te Moana a Toi.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our Kaupapa Ward is a key component of the Hauora a Toi – Bay of Plenty and Te Pare ō Toi Service, which is transforming into a ‘change engine’ for Toi Ora as we advance our new strategy, Te Toi Ahorangi Rautaki 2030. Based in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, our team operates in a supportive, culturally responsive environment where embracing te reo and tikanga Māori is integral to our kaupapa care approach.

About You

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • A certificate in Health Care Assistance Level 3 or 4 (or other equivalent qualification).
  • Current experience working as a Health Care Assistant in a healthcare setting or a related health care consumer service.
  • A commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care as part of a collaborative team.
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
