The Ashley Hotel Greymouth is a well-established hotel offering quality accommodation, dining, and conference facilities on the West Coast of New Zealand. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Restaurant Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our in-house Food & Beverage. You will play a key leadership role in maintaining service excellence


As the Restaurant Manager, you will be responsible for the effective daily operations of the hotel’s food and beverage services. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning and organising daily restaurant operations to ensure efficiency and high-quality customer service.
  • Managing and supervising all food and beverage services including the restaurant, banquet halls, conferences, and boardroom facilities.
  • Ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation throughout service areas.
  • Planning menus in consultation with chefs, considering customer preferences, seasonal availability, and cost factors.
  • Controlling operational costs, including food, beverage, and labour costs, to maximise profitability.
  • Monitoring inventory, ordering stock, and maintaining supplier relationships to ensure efficient supply chain management.
  • Interviewing, hiring, training, and supervising restaurant staff to uphold service standards and performance expectations.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations and licensing laws.
  • Responding to customer complaints and feedback, resolving issues promptly and professionally.
  • Organising special functions and event catering as required.
  • Maintaining records of stock levels, staffing, financial transactions, and operational performance.
  • Collaborating with hotel management to develop marketing and promotional activities that drive sales and increase revenue.
  • Performing other duties as required to support the smooth operation and strategic goals of the business.
Skills and Experience Required

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a restaurant or hospitality industry.

  • Proven leadership and staff management capabilities.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards in New Zealand.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.

  • Experience working with hospitality POS and reservation systems.

Conditions of Employment
  • This is a full-time permanent position, with a 35 hours per week.

  • Salary will range from $65,000 to $73,000 per annum, commensurate with skills and experience.
