Job summary
A property development company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a legal expert with 7-9 years of PQE to manage and advise on strata management issues and commercial agreements. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with laws, conducting legal research, and overseeing dispute resolution processes. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's Degree in Law and possess strong negotiation and project management skills. This role provides an opportunity to work in a dynamic legal environment, addressing key legal matters.
Qualifications
- Minimum PQE of 7‑9 years.
- Experience in legal practice and in-house practice.
- Knowledge of legal issues in property development.
Responsibilities
- Manage and resolve issues related to strata management.
- Review and advise on commercial agreements.
- Assist with tenancy and leasing matters.
- Ensure compliance with PDPA and Anti-Bribery laws.
- Provide general legal support.
Skills
Education
- Manage, advise, and resolve issues, disputes or complaints related to strata management, including reviewing letters of demand and cause papers and preparing necessary documentation.
- Review, draft, and advise on commercial agreements and contracts, including Sale & Purchase Agreements (SPA), land acquisition, M&A documentation, and other legal documents.
- Assist with tenancy and leasing matters, including preparing tenancy agreements and offer letters.
- Actively monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, with a particular focus on PDPA and Anti-Bribery and Corruption requirements.
- Conduct research as required and support the group on the latest regulatory requirements and compliance obligations.
- Oversee dispute management from pre-litigation through to resolution, handling settlement negotiations, mediations, arbitration processes, and coordinating with external legal teams when needed.
- Provide general legal support, addressing and resolving legal issues as they arise.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings with internal departments and/or external parties as required.
- Prepare monthly reports summarizing key and significant legal matters.
- Perform any ad-hoc tasks as and when required.
- Minimum PQE of 7‑9 years.
- Bachelor's Degree in Law (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 7‑9 years of experience gained from both legal practice and in‑house practice; this experience is advantageous.
- Experience and knowledge of legal issues related to the property development sector is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of contract, commercial, intellectual property, employment, PDPA, Anti‑Bribery, and Corruption, and corporate governance.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and handle urgent matters efficiently.
