We are a licensed Fund Management Company seeking an experienced Leader / Strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our dynamic team. This full-time role is based in our Kuala Lumpur City Centre office and involves driving operational excellence and overseeing daily operations of our funds management business.
What you'll be doing
- Reporting directly to the CEO, providing strategic leadership to steer the company’s vision and growth.
- Providing strategic direction across Operations, Finance & Accounting, Legal, and Information Management (IT) to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Overseeing IT projects, ensuring timely execution and delivery.
- Analyzing financial performance and offering strategic guidance for decision-making.
- Managing critical stakeholders, including the board of directors and shareholders.
- Developing and implementing operational policies, procedures, and systems to support growth.
- Monitoring and processing fund management, unit trust, company accounts, and administration.
- Collaborating with the investment team to optimize operational processes and support investment performance.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve client satisfaction.
- Representing the operations function on the management team and contributing to strategic planning.
- Mentoring and developing the operations team to foster a high-performance culture.
- Participating in compiling the Company Business Plan and annual budget.
What we're looking for
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a senior operations role within the funds management industry.
- Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, business, or related disciplines; professional qualifications like ACCA, ICAEW, CPA, CIMA, CFA, or CMSRL are advantageous.
- Knowledge of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and fund management regulations (Securities Commission/Bursa Malaysia).
- Understanding of investment products including equities, bonds, derivatives, and structured products.
- Strong relationship-building skills with internal teams and external clients.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for stakeholder management.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to identify operational risks and opportunities.
- Strong commercial acumen and collaboration skills across investment, finance, and compliance functions.
- Experience in developing operational infrastructure and processes for company growth.
- Ability to review and ensure consistency in policies and quality procedures.
- Ability to liaise with regulators, auditors, brokers, banks, and industry associations.
