We are looking for a Service Technician - Mechanical to join our Mechanic Field Services Resources team. This role is ideal for a junior technician eager to support senior colleagues in mechanical tasks while receiving theoretical and practical on‑the‑job training. The position involves assisting with on‑site jobs and gaining hands‑on experience in activities such as commissioning, trial tests, adjustments, repairs, and maintenance of Wärtsilä’s products.

The primary location for this position is Naples, Italy, and candidates are expected to reside in this area. However, remote work is possible when not actively involved in field assignments.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Service Technician - Mechanical, your primary responsibilities will include :

Performing advanced troubleshooting on‑site to identify and resolve failures in mechanical equipment related to Wärtsilä’s products.

Inspecting completed work to ensure repairs meet required standards.

Preparing technical and travel reports with accuracy and timeliness.

Operating in the field and maintaining direct communication with clients.

Key tasks include :

Executing planned maintenance and repair jobs on Wärtsilä OEM engines and their auxiliaries.

Overhauling engine components on‑site or onboard vessels.

Conducting engine product troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and component investigations.

Performing commissioning of Wärtsilä equipment.

Preparing service work reports and travel expense reports in line with Wärtsilä’s quality standards.

Adhering to company guidelines, including QEHS (Quality, Environment, Health, and Safety) requirements.

Requirements for the Position
  • A solid understanding of mechanical principles, particularly those related to marine engines.

The ability to read and interpret technical drawings.

Proficiency in English and Italian.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive customer relationships.

A high level of motivation to learn and grow professionally.

The ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team.

Cultural awareness and the ability to bridge gaps between different cultures.

The ability to perform effectively and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

A willingness to travel extensively (up to 80% of the year) both domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

A technical high school diploma in mechanics or a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering or mechanical engineering.

Previous experience in similar roles.

Hands‑on experience working in vessel engine rooms.
