Who we are looking for

We are looking for a Scala Developer Freelance for a fintech company specializing in structured investment products and insurance solutions. It is a technology and service provider in the financial sector, offering a leading digital marketplace for structured products.

The company develops innovative investment solutions and provides services along the entire value chain, from development, structuring, pricing, issuing, market‑making, secondary market services and more.

What you will do

In this role, you will develop its state‑of‑the‑art technology platform that helps financial institutions create and distribute structured investment products. You will work closely with business to gather and understand requirements, and deliver high quality solutions.

Responsibilities and activities

• You will contribute to software and architectural design decisions, strongly collaborating with your colleagues
• You will the possibility to express yourself, writing efficient, reliable, clean and thoroughly tested code, suitable to run in a continuous integration and deployment environment
• You will work closely with your team’s Engineering Lead and Product Manager to design upcoming projects for the team
• When needed, you will research and evaluate new approaches and technologies, and demonstrate their value

Must have hands on experience with :

• Strong experience with Scala
• Strong experience with Kafka platform (Kafka and Kafka Streams in particular)
• Fluent in English (B2+)

Nice to have :

• Experience with Typelevel stack (Cats-Effect, Doobie)
• Experience with Akka / Pekko toolkit (Http and Streams)
• Experience working with microservices architectures, event streaming systems and cloud providers is also preferred. Kubernetes and AWS knowledge is a plus.
• Experience and appreciation for Extreme Programming values and principles.
• Experience working in financial services systems.
• Comfortable working in remote‑friendly teams distributed between multiple locations.
• A good understanding of Agile methodologies, their principles and their ceremonies.

full remote, in Italian time zone (CET)
