This part-time, unpaid position aims to aid in the development of an AI-powered platform for cognitive health and neurodegenerative disorder detection. Ideal candidates are currently pursuing a PhD or Master's in relevant fields and will have the opportunity to contribute to multiple innovative projects. Strong communication skills and foundational knowledge in neuroscience are required.

Research Assistants – MEMORIA Project

• Part-time, unpaid during the early phase
• Hybrid work model (remote and / or on-site in Europe, with primary base in Milan)
• Travel and meeting expenses will be reimbursed upon approval
• An NDA must be signed

This position may evolve into a full-time Research Scientist or Clinical Research Manager role based on performance and project growth.

We are launching several innovation projects, including :

• Memoria – AI-powered MedTech platform for cognitive health and early detection of neurodegenerative disorders
• Oxyleaf – Synthetic plant systems for urban energy and environmental regeneration
• Terra – Underground sensor networks for environmental and agricultural intelligence

The company is legally incorporated (USA, Italy) and is now forming its founding research team for the pilot phase of Memoria.

About the Role

We are seeking Research Assistants to contribute to the development of Memoria, a pioneering MedTech project in the field of cognitive neuroscience, AI, and neuro-assistive technologies.

The selected candidates will support the scientific validation, data analysis, and clinical-oriented research of the platform. This role is ideal for students currently pursuing a PhD, MD, or Master’s degree in neuroscience, medicine, bioengineering, or related fields.

Candidates selected for this position will also become members of the SCB – Scientific Committee Board of Institute Itech. This means they will have the opportunity to :

• Contribute to the scientific governance of the company,
• Provide input on cross-disciplinary innovation,
• Collaborate on other projects (Oxyleaf, Terra, Polaris) if their academic background and expertise are relevant.

Responsibilities

• Support research and development activities in neuroscience, cognitive health, and AI-assisted diagnostics
• Assist in designing and validating experimental protocols and clinical pilot studies
• Contribute to data collection, analysis, and documentation
• Collaborate with AI engineers, data scientists, and medical advisors
• Participate in scientific writing and preparation of publications, reports, and presentations
• Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines, GDPR, and medical research standards

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program, medical school, Master’s in bioengineering, neuroscience, or related field
• Foundational knowledge in neurobiology, cognitive science, or biomedical engineering
• Interest in MedTech, AI applications in healthcare, and translational research
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and international environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (Italian is a plus)
• Must be based in Europe or able to operate from an EU academic institution

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous research experience (laboratory, clinical, or computational)
• Familiarity with data analysis software (Python, R, MATLAB, SPSS)
• Exposure to AI / ML applications in health or biomedical sciences
• Motivation to grow into a long-term research role within the Memoria project and SCB activities

Time Commitment

This is a non-paid position during the startup phase, with a minimum commitment of 4–6 hours per week.
