Regional Sales Manager - South Europe (f/m/d)

Edmund Optics Europe, a U.S. owned‑group consisting of subsidiaries in Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and France, is responsible for sales, marketing, distribution, engineering and application support for a wide product range throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Europe is one of the main growth markets for Edmund Optics globally, leading to a rapidly expanding and developing local team.

Through an active field presence, this position will proactively act as a sales representative selling Edmund Optics’ products, services and core competencies to existing as well as future customers within the allocated region. With the support of Inside Sales Representatives, Engineering and Business Development Teams, the Regional Sales Manager South Europe will be in charge of the entire sales cycle: prospection, lead identification, product presentations, quote preparation, technical and commercial negotiations within the region. Frequent travel to visit customers, trade shows and international company sites is required.

Essential Functions:
  • Support and expand existing and potential new key account customers in South Europe (Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece)
  • Present the company and our products/solutions as well as developing business relationships
  • Identify customers’ needs, requirements and potential for co‑operations
  • Progress, develop and map customer relationships with key decision makers in purchasing, R&D, operations and management
  • Create, negotiate and close out quotations
  • Act as a main point of contact between key clients and internal teams
  • Identify trends and target markets within the region and work with European Sales and Marketing on localized strategies
  • Represent Edmund Optics at local trade shows and optics conferences
  • Continuously document and follow‑up contacts, opportunities pipeline, projects and offers leading to successful sales transactions including the respective reporting, including but not limited to forecasts
  • Internal international communication with R&D, production, application, marketing and sales
  • Actively work on and manage inside sales opportunities and RFQs, either independently or with Solution Engineering or European Engineering
Qualifications:
  • University degree (Diploma / Bachelor / Master / PhD) in an optics‑related technical field or economics
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the South European optics/photonics industry (knowledge of industry specific products, target markets and commercial positioning)
  • Experience in outside sales and market knowledge
  • Fluency in Italian and English, Spanish is a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office, CRM and SAP
  • Experience in sales communications and negotiation skills
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Self‑motivation and ability to work independently
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills
  • Valid international driving license
  • Willingness to travel frequently (in the region and occasionally internationally)
