A multinational consulting firm in Genova is seeking an Offshore Geotechnical Engineer to join their Environmental and Engineering Geoscience Division. The role involves developing projects, designing structures, and ensuring quality compliance. The ideal candidate should have experience in geotechnical engineering, a Master’s Degree or PhD, and be proficient in related software. RINA is currently recruiting for a Offshore Geotechnical Engineer to join its office in Genova, Italy within the Environmental and Engineering Geoscience Division.

Mission

The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and responsible for their technical duties, capable of working autonomously and under supervision, executing projects within the division, interfacing and coordinating with peers. You will work on challenging offshore and onshore projects, providing consultancy on ground characterization and foundation design. Working as part of a global team, you are expected to achieve extraordinary results in a demanding and constantly evolving business environment.

Key Accountabilities

• Develop geotechnical engineering projects from preliminary to detailed design, and technically control projects developed by others under supervision.
• Design foundation/retaining structures (bearing capacity, settlement, soil–structure interaction), slope stability, underground structures, and other geotechnical topics.
• Develop finite element or difference models for static and dynamic analyses.
• Obtain soil and rock samples to determine properties affecting structural behavior.
• Create project schedules and deliverables timelines under supervision.
• Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and engineering drawings.
• Prepare progress reports.
• Ensure all activities adhere to RINA QMS and quality policies.

Education

Master’s Degree or Doctorate/PHD in Geotechnical Engineering.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering with a proven project development and design track record. PhD preferred. Offshore campaign experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in geotechnical principles, foundation and retaining structure design, slope stability, underground structures, and related software (e.g., Plaxis, Gint, GRLWeap, DeepSoil). Programming skills (Python, Matlab) are advantageous.
• Availability for offshore campaigns (up to 30-40 days, 1-2 times per year).
