Hauptaufgaben

Incumbent sells postage and money orders, and processes mail for dispatch. Ensures proper packing, wrapping, and sealing of letter mail and packages. Advises patrons on domestic and international mail regulations, procedures, services, and fees. Incumbent advises customers of customs procedures and helps them prepare appropriate forms for mailing items subject to customs examinations. Conducts closeout procedures on the postal finance equipment, postage validation imprinter, and the debit / credit machine. Processes postal claims, complaints, and inquiries. The work requires broad knowledge of accounting or other financial management practices and procedures, and policies related to the specific Postal Finance functions. Processes and delivers incoming Certified, Insured, Express, and other various Extra Service articles personally through the window to the addressee / authorized agent and to various organizations and mailrooms designated mail orderlies and mail clerks. Incumbent inspects outgoing accountable mail for mailability and processes for shipment in accordance with DOD Regulatory guidance. Conducts various mail handling functions in central mail distribution units of IMCOM-Europe. Work involves handling, screening, and processing incoming and outgoing mail to include delivery, sorting, weighing, and metering mail. Incumbent is required to maintain accountability and security of official mail accounts and United States Postal Service (USPS) postage stamps and appropriated postage funds. Monitors and submits serviced organization-delivery and postage-meter reports to higher headquarters by daily average, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. Incumbent operates a customer service window for package delivery and other oversized articles that will not fit in mail receptacles. As a leader, incumbent is responsible for distributing and balancing the workload among employees and ensures timely accomplishment of the assignments. Incumbent keeps in touch with the status and progress of work, and makes day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities, obtaining assistance from the supervisor on problems that may arise, such as backlogs which cannot be disposed of promptly. Monitors working conditions such as ventilation, lighting, and safety, correcting and / or notifying the supervisor as needed. Gives on-the-job training to new employees and refresher training. Incumbent operates a step side van or other similar types of vehicles, collecting mail from street side mail collection boxes, buildings, and mail pickup points. Incumbent picks up and delivers mail, bulk quantities of forms and publications which require heavy lifting.

NOTE: Work involves standing, bending, reaching, as well as lifting and carrying heavy weights.

NOTE: Tour of duty : 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 09.00 to 18.00, including a 1-hour uncompensated lunch break.

Incumbent is required to work shifts, weekends and / or holidays, as needed. Annual leave will not normally be granted for the period of 01 November to 15 January except for emergencies.

Qualifikationsanforderungen

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : Applicants must meet the qualification requirements in the "Qualification Standards" published by U.S Office of Personnel Management, as summarized below.

EXPERIENCE : Applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the UA-04 grade level.

Specialized Experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

NOTE : Proficient knowledge of the English language, written and spoken, is required.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED : In order to qualify for this position, your application must provide sufficient experience to meet the requirements of the position. You will be rated based on the experience described in your application and the driver's license that is submitted.

  • Be able to obtain and maintain the military driver's license equivalent to Italian driver's license type "B";
