Competenze

Base pay range is provided by Serco Space Services. Actual pay will be based on your skills and experience, discussed with your recruiter.

Responsibilities

In this role your work is split equally between two projects:

  1. Calibration & Validation (Cal/Val) Exercises
    Partner with ESA teams to develop intercomparison exercises, refine Cal/Val strategies and algorithms for optical missions (Sentinel‑2, Landsat‑8/9, EnMAP, PRISMA, CHIME). Lead atmospheric correction and cloud‑masking intercomparison exercises such as ACIX and CMIX. Advance radiative transfer science across VNIR, SWIR, and TIR, support the Eradiate model, and disseminate results through publications and conferences.
  2. HARMONY EE Mission
    Provide scientific guidance for Level‑2 algorithm specifications, quality control, and Cal/Val practices for the thermal infrared sensor. Define mission‑wide Quality Assessment and Cal/Val strategy, support ESA project coordination, and participate in advisory groups and ground‑segment review meetings.
Qualifications
  • Grounded in physics or mathematics with hands‑on experience in Earth Observation using optical and thermal infrared sensors.
  • Proven ability to coordinate science‑driven projects and deliver results.
  • Strong experience in data analytics (Python preferred), data science and exploitation platforms for Earth Observation.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills in English; ability to collaborate across borders.
  • Experience in radiative transfer modelling and atmospheric correction is an added advantage.
  • Experience with satellite data analysis, exploitation, and validation of satellite geophysical variable retrieval.
