Job Description

Although the role is based at our Italian office, this is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in ensuring accurate product classification and compliance with international trade regulations, supporting our prestigious Customers to access global markets.

As a ULS GMA Knowledge Associate specializing in Customs Regulations and HS Code Classification, you will complete comprehensive research and analysis of Harmonized System (HS) codes and global customs requirements under general supervision and mentorship. Provide classification guidance, global regulatory updates, research monitoring, and document management within regulatory databases. Support interpretation of requirements to prepare executive summary reports on changes and their impact to customers and business.

Under general supervision and guidance, act as point of contact with customs authorities and ULS partners to obtain and maintain necessary knowledge and regulatory requirements to support research and delivery projects. Contribute to identifying new business opportunities by working directly with internal teams and customers to ensure accurate product classification and compliance with international trade regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive and research reports based on the required regulatory information.
  • Provide point‑of‑access support to address any local acceptance issues under supervision and guidance.
  • Coordinate research/studies including multiple products, regulations, countries under supervision and guidance.
  • May act as owner of certain geographic areas or regulations under supervision and guidance.
  • Cooperate with industries and colleagues to support development GMA knowledge services and customized solutions.
  • Supports actions related to GMA business expansion scope, track opportunity and business results.
  • May supervise the day‑to‑day delivery of high‑quality knowledge services under supervision and guidance.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
  • Maintain expertise and provide guidance on:
    • HS Code classification principles
    • Customs regulations and trade compliance
    • Import/export documentation requirements
    • Regional and international trade agreements

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, International Relations, or other specialization based on the specific coverage, preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HS Code classification and customs regulations globally.
  • Familiarity with trade compliance systems and documentation processes.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in English (mandatory).
  • Additional languages are considered a plus.
