YOUR ROLE

MEMS are key components in ST product portfolio which support a wide range of consolidated and emerging applications.
Within them, infrared sensors are one of the most recent and innovative products on the market, posing new design and industrialization challenges.

As a MEMS infrared sensor design engineer, the following tasks are expected:

  • definition of specifications matching ST technology and manufacturing capabilities
  • driving and cooperating with other development teams like manufacturing technology R&D, electronics design, characterization, reliability and/or suppliers
  • analytical and/or numerical modelisation of the physical systems describing the transducer
  • mechanical and multiphysical simulations of components by Finite Element commercial softwares like ANSYS and Comsol Multiphysics or by custom-made tools
  • definition and finalization of design solutions to reach required performances from feasibility to complete product qualification and volume production
  • verification of the adherence of the design targets to the real performance by critical analysis of experimental results (supporting testing teams or measuring directly, if needed)
YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCES

The ideal candidate should have:

  • a Master degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electronic, Physical, Mathematical, Civil, Material Science) or Physics
  • 3+ years experience in MEMS design and/or mechanical, optical or thermal sensors/systems. Previous experience in infrared sensors design or development for presence detection or temperature sensing is highly appreciated.
  • Good knowledge of physics, in particular mechanics, thermodynamics, optics and electronics.
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn
  • Attitude to team working and problem solving
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work

Previous experience with softwares like Ansys, Comsol, Zemax, MATLAB is welcome but not mandatory.
