About the Position

Functional Safety Specialist (Hardware) – Electronics Functional Safety Team, located in Italy, France and Germany. This role is based at our office in Corbetta.

Responsibilities
  • Support Project Safety Managers, Functional Safety Methodology Specialist and Head of Functional Safety on technical aspects of safety‑related issues.
  • Provide pre‑offer support on platform designs, particularly on safe hardware (Hw) design, and apply that know‑how to other designs.
  • During offers, coach system design in defining the safety concept and estimating components needing compliance with functional safety.
  • Support and coach Hw designers in evaluating the functional safety impact of RFIs, RFQs and CRs.
  • Over the development phase, support Hw designers in executing functional safety activities and in developing the product to meet functional safety requirements (e.g., requirements, architectures, safety analyses, etc.).
  • Review and ensure compliance of work products and R&D processes with ISO 26262 requirements.
  • For production, support and review safety‑relevant production documents (e.g., creation and application of safety‑relevant critical characteristics of the components used).
  • For field analysis, support the definition and monitoring of field returns strategy for safety‑related issues.
  • Prepare the project team for functional safety audits and assessments.
  • Contribute to the definition of indicators to measure Functional Safety team efficiency and effectiveness, aiming at continuous process improvement.
  • Share process‑improvement opportunities with the Functional Safety Methodology Specialist and the rest of the team.
Qualifications
  • Degree in engineering or equivalent experience, ideally in Electronics or a related field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in hardware automotive development.
  • 3 years or more of experience with safety‑relevant development.
  • Demonstrated leadership.
Other Skills and Requirements
  • Knowledge of ISO 26262 and ISO 21448 SOTIF is a plus.
  • Experience with safety analysis tools and methodologies (e.g., DFA, FMEA, FTA, FMEDA).
  • Experience developing embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with process development standards (e.g., IATF, ASPICE).
  • Good written and spoken English is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of Chinese, Japanese, Italian, German, Portuguese or French is an advantage.
  • Ability to work within a multi‑national, cross‑cultural team covering EMEA, Asia (India, China, Japan), LATAM, and NAFTA.
  • Strong negotiation skills to drive safety initiatives across R&D and OEMs.
