Job Summary

The Procurement Specialist will play a critical role in sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers and service providers across our global freight forwarding operations. This role requires a detail-oriented and results-driven professional with a deep understanding of procurement practices in the logistics and freight forwarding industry. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of industry-specific experience and a strong command of both strategic sourcing and stakeholder communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vendor Management & Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers and subcontractors (e.g., carriers, customs brokers, warehousing providers). Maintain strong supplier relationships and lead regular performance evaluations. Source competitive and compliant quotations for freight and logistics services.
  • Negotiation & Contracting: Negotiate commercial terms, service level agreements (SLAs), and contracts to optimize cost, delivery, and quality. Ensure compliance with global procurement policies and legal requirements.
  • Cost Optimization: Analyse spend data to identify savings opportunities and drive cost reduction initiatives. Monitor market trends, fuel surcharges, and industry benchmarks to support pricing strategies.
  • Process Management: Collaborate with operations, finance, and legal departments to align procurement activities with company goals.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Assess supplier risk and ensure mitigation plans are in place. Ensure adherence to trade compliance, regulatory requirements, and ethical sourcing standards.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Prepare procurement reports and dashboards for management review. Provide insights on procurement performance, market conditions, and supplier KPIs.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience in the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
  • Proven track record in strategic sourcing, negotiation, and vendor management.
  • Experience working in a multinational environment with complex supply chains.
  • Solid understanding of air, sea, road transport, incoterms, and customs procedures.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in procurement systems and ERP platforms.
  • Advanced skills in Excel for spend tracking and decision-making.
  • Good command of PowerPoint is a strong plus.
  • Strong understanding of cost structures and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO standards, anti-bribery laws).
Soft Skills
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities across cultures and functions.
  • Proven teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and multicultural teams.
