We are looking for a dynamic Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead and drive our technology vision, strategy, and innovation.
Position Overview
As the CTO at Space Industries, you will shape and execute the company\'s technology strategy. You will oversee the entire technological development and execution process for our satellite programs, leading a talented team of engineers and collaborating with the executive team to ensure Space Industries remains at the forefront of the space industry. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring the success of our satellite missions, including managing technology roadmaps, partnerships, and the seamless integration of technology into operational processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Technology Strategy & Leadership: Develop and execute the company\'s technology vision and strategy aligned with business goals, ensuring Space Industries remains a leader in the space satellite sector.
- Innovation Management: Oversee the innovation of new technologies related to satellite systems, including propulsion, payload integration, communications, and on-board systems.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performance engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence. Guide team members to deliver cutting-edge solutions in satellite development.
- Satellite System Development: Drive the technical direction of micro, small, and nano satellites, ensuring that our technology roadmap is aligned with current industry trends and market demands.
- Research & Development: Manage and oversee research and development efforts to continually push the boundaries of satellite technology, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Operations, Product Development, Marketing, and Business Development to integrate technology solutions into business operations.
- Technology Integration: Oversee the integration of new technologies and platforms, ensuring smooth execution and coordination between internal teams and external partners.
- Quality Assurance: Implement best practices for technology development and ensure that all products and systems meet the highest standards of quality and compliance with industry regulations.
- Risk Management: Identify technological risks, develop mitigation strategies, and oversee the resolution of any technical challenges that may arise during the development lifecycle.
- Partnerships & Alliances: Foster relationships with strategic technology partners, external vendors, and academic institutions to stay ahead of emerging trends and innovations in the space industry.
- Board & Executive Reporting: Provide regular updates on technology progress, challenges, and solutions to the Board of Directors and senior executives.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 5+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, preferably in the aerospace or satellite industry, with a strong background in satellite technology.
- Possess exceptional expertise in designing and systems engineering for satellites, satellite constellations, and the most advanced space systems, especially those related to complex missions.
- Proven Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading technology teams, driving innovation, and managing complex technical projects from inception through to successful execution.
- Deep Understanding of Satellite Systems: In-depth knowledge of micro, small, and nano satellite design, integration, and operations, including propulsion systems, payloads, power management, and communication technologies.
- Strategic Thinking: Strong ability to think strategically about technology investments, emerging trends, and long-term R&D plans.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Exceptional problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make critical decisions under pressure.
- Fluency in English (oral and written) is required. Additional languages are a plus.
- Possession of a driving license (Category B).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with NewSpace startups or organizations focused on small satellite technologies.
- Knowledge of space regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., ECSS, NASA, ISO).
- Previous experience in managing R&D budgets, technology partnerships, and product development pipelines.
- Familiarity with space mission lifecycle, from concept design to deployment and operations.
