Role Summary

The Front-End Seal Applications Engineer for Commercial Operations AM is responsible for supporting our customers, end-user sales team and distributors related to our Aftermarket offerings, with the main target to increase our seal installed base and grow the seal AM business. This role involves all customer-facing activities related to the order acquisition process, including:

  • Technical and commercial customer visits
  • Technical trainings to clients
  • On-site troubleshooting, seal inspections and walkabouts
  • Start-up assistance support to clients when required
  • Proposal development and pricing analysis

In addition to customer-facing activities, the Front-End Seal Applications Engineer is responsible for creating and pre-defining solutions, providing quick price budgets/estimations and collaborating with in-side Application engineers to issue complete proposals to clients. This requires coordination with multiple internal and external stakeholders. The role utilizes a strong technical background and commercial acumen, effective communication, and a commitment to expanding team capabilities within Flowserve's aftermarket offerings.

Your Role
  • Increase seal population and create business opportunities through customer visits, walkabouts and troubleshooting activities.
  • Focus on competitor change-outs and upgrades to increase seal AM business on repairs and parts.
  • Participate in customer meetings and visits, alone or with End User Sales Engineer. Customer-facing activities should be at least 50% of total time.
  • Ensure high-quality proposals (technical and commercial) are timely prepared within scope, using designated workload management tools in collaboration with an in-side Applications Engineer.
  • Interact with an In-Side Application Engineer to manage the proposal throughout the bid cycle, updating workload tools and maintaining a favorable hit-rate.
  • Support In-side Application Engineer to ensure all customer inquiries and related documents meet technical and commercial requirements for customers and/or the commercial team.
  • Conduct on-site hands-on activities as requested, including examining and inspecting failed products and providing written and oral explanations to customers.
  • Participate and assist in start-ups of rotating equipment for seal upgrades, retrofits or addressing bad actors as needed.
  • Conduct field walkabouts to analyze and troubleshoot rotating equipment to create opportunities for upgrades and competitor change-outs.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with Customers, Sales, Operations and other stakeholders to promote Flowserve’s interests.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of mechanical seals and seal systems fundamentals, understand Flowserve seal types, rotating equipment applications, pump affinity laws, and how these relate to pumps and systems.
  • Organize and deliver training to stakeholders (Customers and Commercial Team).
  • Supervise and mentor colleagues with less experience when required.
Your Profile
  • Engineering degree background; Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience (minimum).
  • Experience in rotating equipment and/or mechanical seals.
  • Fluent in English and local language.
  • Strong PC skills with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Expected travel: 70-80% of total time.
