We are looking for an AI Engineer to join our AI Services and Delivery team. Within the team you will be part of the Engineering chapter exchanging experience, know‑how and ideas with other engineers of different seniorities and backgrounds. As an AI Engineer you will participate and lead (depending on seniority) AI solutions delivery across different Unicredit domains and geographies. You will also collaborate with a horizontal team to improve and evolve our AI Platform on the cloud with state‑of‑the‑art components and features to be leveraged across initiatives. You will be focusing on AI solutions design and delivery jointly with AI Architects, Data Scientists and AI business translators, ensuring system reliability and scalability in production following market standard Dev and ML ops practices.

What you can expect from us

• Design and development of innovative and cutting‑edge AI solutions jointly with Architect and Scientist.
• Contribute to the scale‑up of AI adoption through the creation of libraries and common assets – maintain and evolve Unicredit AI Platform leveraging state‑of‑the‑art cloud components and open‑source frameworks.
• Ensure smooth operations through scalable, robust and resilient design of systems.
• Define best practices and standards for application design and development – including deployment patterns, documentation, library adoption and group‑wide standards.
• For Senior Roles, act as tech lead on horizontal (capabilities and foundations) and vertical (business‑specific project) delivery. Acting as a focal point for engineering design, planning and execution, holding accountability for milestone achievements and overall project/delivery success.

What we expect from you

The ideal candidate has:

• University degree in computer science, physics, mathematics or engineering.
• 3+ years of practical relevant experience in software design and implementation, ideally related to AI systems.
• In‑depth knowledge of Software Engineering best practices, design and architectural patterns.
• Experience in object‑oriented software development in Python, knowledge of API design and implementation – additional languages are a plus.
• Practical knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker.
• Hands‑on experience with AI systems in production, embedded into enterprise ecosystems.
• Experience with Agentic AI system design, development and maintenance in an enterprise setting with production‑grade infrastructure.
• Proven experience in application development, leveraging cloud infrastructure, including cloud services usage and integration. (Google preferred, Azure nice to have)
• Eager to learn and stay up to date on AI trends, technologies and framework.
• Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in an agile environment.
• For more senior roles, experience in leading the delivery of technical teams bridging gaps between methodological and engineering effort guaranteeing smooth transition between prototyping and production‑grade system.

Nice to have

• Practical experience in using ML and/or AI frameworks (e.g. KubeFlow, Langchain, Haystack, ...).
• Experience as a Machine Learning Engineer – MLOps lifecycle for traditional AI systems.
• Experience with Open Source LLMs in production, LLM fine‑tuning and deployment.
• Experience in testing strategy (unit test, integration test, scalability test) with a focus on AI systems and LLM scalability.
• Experience in designing and developing microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of DevOps best practices, with proven experience of deployments on Kubernetes.
