Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a Contract Cyber Engineer in Newport for a 6-month contract, likely to extend. You will act as a senior escalation point in a SOC and support various operational engineering activities. Essential qualifications include strong SOC tooling knowledge, firewall experience, and scripting skills. This role requires strong communication and is fully onsite, offering up to £90 per hour. British Nationals with DV Clearance are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of core SOC tooling, including SIEM/Splunk.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco ASR, Palo Alto or Fortinet firewalls.
  • Excellent understanding of LAN/WAN technologies.
  • Experience in scripting with PowerShell, Python, Bash.
  • Experience with Windows Server and RHEL administration.

Responsibilities

  • Act as senior escalation point for SOC engineering issues.
  • Support SOC Analysts and Engineers with troubleshooting.
  • Oversee toolset availability and performance.
  • Support change and release management of security tools.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging cyber technologies.

Skills
