What You’ll Be Doing

Join Camden's dynamic Legal Services team, where you’ll play a critical role in breaking down barriers while embracing a risk-aware approach. You'll engage with senior officers and Members to offer high-quality legal services, with a focus on social justice. Collaborate closely with various service directorates to ensure efficient delivery of Council priorities, all while managing a personal caseload that includes high-profile and complex cases. Become a trusted advisor, advocate, and problem solver as you contribute to Camden's vision of innovative, responsive legal solutions.

We are particularly seeking lawyers with demonstrable knowledge and experience in a busy local authority prosecutions team; handling all aspects of prosecuting on behalf of the local authority to include considering instructions (Code for Crown Prosecutors), analysing the law, providing legal advice, drafting key criminal prosecution documents (informations, summonses, witness statements, case collation, lodging of proceedings, advocacy in court) in the following areas:-

  • Health and Safety At Work etc Act;
  • Trading Standards Prosecutions;
  • Fraud Act, Social Housing Fraud;
  • Environmental Protection Act; littering, fly-tipping and statutory nuisance;
  • Planning Enforcement;
  • Disabled blue badge prosecutions;
  • Other local authority prosecutions.
