Finance Manager - Roaming/Airtime, Slough
This role provides continuity of a critical commercial accounting activity within the business during a period of transformation. The successful candidate will be responsible for reporting Airtime revenue and margin, working closely with the commercial finance and business owners to ensure accurate reporting and provide commentary on actual performance vs forecasts.
Responsibilities:
- Accountability for airtime margin, including subscription revenues, out-of-bundle calls, SMS, data, roaming, interconnect, and related costs.
- Collaborate with Data and Insight, Finance Operations, Revenue Assurance, and Commercial Finance teams. Build strong relationships with clients, shareholders, and network providers.
- Report on airtime revenue, costs, debtors, and bad debt. Provide management information, interpret variances, and handle financial accounting and statutory disclosures.
- Lead VAT-related activities for airtime, including bad debt, roaming, and zero-rated transactions.
- Optimize processes while maintaining reporting integrity. Promote automation, outsourcing, and process redesign.
- Serve as the primary contact for statutory auditors and facilitate audit activities related to airtime.
- Provide forecasts and budgets for bad debt and write-offs.
- Manage reporting relationships with OFCOM, including quarterly and ad hoc submissions.
- Maintain and improve process documentation, flowcharts, risks, and controls, working with system integrators on internal controls software.
Requirements:
- Professional Accounting Qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and statutory disclosures.
- Ability to analyze data, interpret variances, and provide insightful commentary.
- Experience with VAT implications, including bad debt, roaming, and zero-rated/exempt transactions.
- Proven track record in process optimization, automation, and efficiency improvements.
- Knowledge of internal controls frameworks, risk, and control design.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience working with statutory auditors.
- High accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proactive, positive attitude with a growth mindset and curiosity for continuous improvement.
