Job Summary

The Pharmacy Department at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ambitious and forward‑thinking, striving to ensure that the patient is always at the heart of everything we do. We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced clinical pharmacist to join our dynamic pharmacy team and provide advanced clinical services to our general paediatric wards, paediatric intensive care unit and neonatal intensive care unit. The post holder will also be responsible for assisting with development of rotational team members.

Main duties of the job

As we look to promote the organisation and governance of neonatal and paediatric patients within the hospital we are looking for an experienced pharmacist who is an adaptable and well‑rounded. You need to be able to work flexibly with our pharmacy team and the wider healthcare multidisciplinary team. Main duties of the role include:

  • Liaising with the relevant senior pharmacy, medical and nursing staff, other allied health professionals (AHPs) and managers to promote safe, evidence‑based and cost‑effective use of medication in the designated clinical area.
  • Promoting medication safety and medicines optimisation in neonates and paediatrics in liaison with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Assisting the Consultant Pharmacist (Neonates & Paediatrics) and the Lead Pharmacist (Women’s and Children’s) to provide Divisional support as required.

Additional Requirements – Essential

Qualifications – Essential
  • Masters level degree in pharmacy.
  • Registered as a pharmacist with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy/General Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent).
  • Registered as an independent prescriber with the GPhC, or commitment to completing this.
Desirable
  • MSc in Clinical Pharmacy.
  • Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
  • Member of the faculty of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (or working towards) at Advanced Stage II.
  • Member of the Neonatal and Paediatric Pharmacist Group (NPPG).
  • Management qualification.
Experience – Essential
  • Recent significant post‑registration experience.
  • Recent significant experience of patient consultation.
  • Experienced clinical pharmacist at band 7 or band 8a who has covered a range of specialities.
