Are you ready to take on a Commercial Manager role that combines complex procurement with the unique privilege of working within the UK Parliament?

Job description

You'll be at the heart of keeping one of the world's most historic institutions running smoothly. This isn't just any procurement role – you'll be managing critical Works category projects that directly impact how Parliament operates, from major construction projects to essential building maintenance and security systems. You'll own the entire commercial relationship for these projects, working with suppliers and stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet the unique needs of this constitutional institution.

What makes this role particularly compelling is the combination of complex, high-stakes procurement work with the fascinating inner workings of British democracy. You'll be delivering against category strategies that support everything from heritage building refurbishments to cutting-edge security systems, all while gaining unprecedented insight into how Parliament functions behind the scenes.

This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with an expectation of you spending 40% of your time in the office.

Your Background:

• CIPS Level 4 qualification, equivalent experience, or relevant qualifications (or willingness to pursue CIPS Level 4 through our apprenticeship programme)
• Working knowledge of procurement legislation, particularly PCR 2015 and the new Procurement Act 2023
• Experience building relationships with stakeholders at different levels, with strong negotiation and influencing skills
• Contract management (ideally NEC) including performance monitoring and reporting.

Your Skills:

• Highly organised with excellent prioritisation and multitasking abilities
• Quick learner who takes initiative and actively seeks service improvements
• Strong IT skills, including experience with e-tendering systems and using data to drive decision-making
• Analytical mindset with proven research skills that can be applied across different scenarios
• Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail while working under pressure
