Youth Worker – Secondary School (Cardiff)

Full-time | Immediate Start | Until July 2027
£90–£100 per day (dependent on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday 08:15am-15:15pm

We are working with a lovely, well-respected secondary school in Cardiff who are seeking a dedicated and resilient Youth Worker to join their team on a full-time basis.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people aged 11–16, particularly those who may present with challenging behaviour or barriers to learning. You will play a vital role in helping pupils feel supported, understood and motivated throughout the school day.

The Role
  • Working closely with pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support.
  • Supporting students throughout the school day, including in lessons and during unstructured times.
  • Building strong, positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and trust.
  • Providing targeted support to improve attendance, behaviour and engagement with learning.
  • Supporting pupils with schoolwork and helping them stay focused and regulated.
  • Maintaining clear boundaries, being firm when needed, and not tolerating disrespectful or challenging behaviour.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider school team.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Has experience working with young people, particularly in youth work, behavioural support, mentoring, or similar roles.
  • Is calm, patient and empathetic, but confident in setting boundaries.
  • Demonstrates resilience and consistency when working with challenging behaviour.
  • Is skilled at building meaningful relationships with young people.
  • Has experience supporting pupils with behaviour, attendance or emotional needs.
  • Is committed, reliable and passionate about making a long-term difference.
