YJMO/433 P/T Personal Assistant in York YO19

Personal Assistants support people to live well. They provide the right support at the right time to help others to live their best lives. This part-time role is to help a neuro-diverse adult with communication needs and support required to allow him to enjoy life and engage in social activities. He would like a companion to support him flexibly, as he may not always want to organise something.

Responsibilities
  • Accompany the client to gym sessions, cinema visits, museum or gallery visits, and other activities in or out of the region.
  • Provide support with doctor or dentist appointments and supermarket shopping.
  • Support socialising and hobbies, such as training in book cataloguing or library skills, and research at the library on interests (local history, railway maps).
  • Plan day trips with public transport (train or bus) to see a friend in another city (e.g., Lincoln, Sheffield, Leeds). Travel expenses for public transport or entry tickets will be paid.
  • Support the client to express opinions about coach suggestions.
Right person

Experience and skills essential: patience, sociable/outgoing nature, kindness and knowledge of neurodiversity. No personal care support is required.

Hours

8 hour shift per week; the 8 hours may vary week to week depending on needs. Most likely Thursday or Friday. 20 hours a week are now available.

Rates and benefits

£17 per hour.

You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday and the opportunity for training relevant to the role.
